Bronze is an alloy of copper, tin, and sometimes other metals. Bronze can be used in tools and armament.

Bronze links are worn by maesters.[1] Luwin owns a bronze far-eye.[2] Bronzegate is the seat of House Buckler in the stormlands.[3]

Yohn Royce, the Lord of Runestone called Bronze Yohn, has bronze armor said to be thousands of years old and engraved with protective magic runes. His sons, Ser Andar and Ser Robar, have plate of silvered steel also engraved with runes.[4] Ser Addam Marbrand wears burnished bronzed steel,[5] and his horse is barded with bronze-colored trappings.[6] Hoster Tully, Lord Paramount of the Trident, has a trout scaled in bronze and silver on his greathelm.[7] Meera Reed wears a sleeveless jerkin armored in bronze scales, and she wields a long bronze knife.[8]

Dagmer Cleftjaw wears gold, silver, and bronze rings.[9] Goghor the Giant wears a bronze ring in his nose.[10]

Instead of stealing metal like most free folk, the Thenns mine tin and copper to create bronze.[11] They wear leather shirts sewn with bronze scales[12] and bronze helms.[13] Their shields are black boiled leather with bronze rims and bosses.[14] The Thenns also use bronze-banded warhorns[15] and bronze swords[16] and axes.[14] Mance Rayder, King-Beyond-the-Wall, wears a bronze-and-iron helm with raven wings.[17]

Many Dothraki wear bronze medallion belts.[18] Khal Drogo binds his mustachios with gold and bronze rings,[19] and he wears bells of gold, silver, and bronze in his hair.[20] The Horse Gate of Vaes Dothrak consists of two bronze stallions.[21]

Mirri Maz Duur has a leaf-shaped knife of hammered red bronze covered with glyphs.[22]

The entrance to the throne room of the Red Keep has great oak-and-bronze doors,[23] and the ruined Dragonpit also has bronze doors.[24] The Moon Door at the Eyrie is held in place with three heavy bronze bars.[25][26] The Great Sept of Baelor has bronze bells,[27] and the Booming Tower of Seagard is known for its great bronze bell.[28]

The stone Titan of Braavos is armored in greenish bronze.[29] Within the House of Black and White is a huge bronze and iron statue of a horse, presumably the horse god of the Dothraki.[29] Some Braavosi courtesans have been honored with statues of marble or bronze.[30]

A bronze arch in the city of Qarth depicts two snakes mating, and their scales are made of delicate flakes of jade, obsidian, and lapis.[31] The Qartheen have bronze horns which encircle the body.[31]

The Unsullied wear bronze caps with spikes.[19][32] The slave soldiers of the Girl General carry long bronze shields with erotic inlays.[33]

Harpies of hammered bronze are located in the Plaza of Pride in Astapor[34] and the Plaza of Purification in Meereen.[35] A great bronze harpy also sits atop the Great Pyramid in Meereen.[36] A side entrance to the pyramid has solid bronze doors.[37] Two towering bronze warriors stand at the gates of Daznak's Pit.[10] There is also a weathered bronze statue of the Chainmaker in Meereen.[38]

Shayala's Dance has a bronze figurehead at the bow of the ship.[39]

Bronze pate is a disease found in Sothoryos.[40]

History

The obsidian, wood, and stone weapons of the children of the forest were outmatched by the bronze weapons and scales of the First Men during their war.[41] The bronze of the First Men was eventually surpassed by iron and steel, however, with the coming of the Andals.[42][43]

Some Kings of the Reach from House Gardener wore thorned crowns of first bronze and later iron when they went to war.[44] One of the Storm Kings was known as Durran Bronze-Axe.[45]

The Valyrians of antiquity used slaves to unearth copper and tin from the Fourteen Flames.[46]

The ancient monarchs from House Royce of Runestone were known as Bronze Kings.[43] Prince Daemon Targaryen referred to his first wife, Lady Rhea Royce, as "the bronze bitch".[47] Lord Gunthor Royce was known as the Bronze Giant.[48]

Ollidar had ring, rod, and mask of bronze when he served as an archmaester.[49]

Vermithor, one of the dragons of House Targaryen, was called the Bronze Fury[50] for his scales colored bronze and tan.[51]

Ser Andar and Ser Robar Royce wear their runic bronze armor during the Hand's tourney, but the brothers are defeated in the competition.[4]

When Viserys Targaryen threatens his sister, Daenerys, at Vaes Dothrak, she responds by striking him in the face with a belt of bronze medallions.[21]

A Clash of Kings

Robb Stark, King in the North, wears a bronze circlet with iron spikes as his crown.[52]

Old bronze coins are found by Daenerys's khalasar in Vaes Tolorro.[53] She later sees beautiful bronze daggers for sale at the port of Qarth.[54]

When Meera and Jojen Reed renew an oath of fealty to Winterfell during the harvest feast, they swear by bronze and iron.[8]

Near the fist of the First Men, Jon Snow finds an old warhorn banded in bronze.[55]

A Storm of Swords

While traveling through the northern mountains, Bran Stark meets a Liddle who clasps his cloak with a gold and bronze pinecone.[56]

A Dance with Dragons

Val is crowned with a simple circlet of dark bronze.[57]

In the Merman's Court, Lord Davos Seaworth see a Locke who fastens his cloak with a pair of crossed bronze keys.[58]

The widow of the waterfront receives an ancient bronze dagger marked with runes.[59]

While dreaming in the cave of the three-eyed crow, Bran Stark has a vision of a white-haired woman killing a captive with a bronze sickle before the heart tree of Winterfell.[60]

The sigil for the newly-created House Thenn includes a bronze disk.[11]
