Drennan is one of the ironborn raiders who accompany Theon Greyjoy to raid along the Stony Shore. During the capture of Winterfell, he and another ironman rape Palla. Theon has Drennan whipped as punishment.

While on guard duty, Drennan is seduced by Osha, who cuts his throat from ear to ear. She then escapes Winterfell with Bran and Rickon Stark, Jojen and Meera Reed, and Hodor. Afterwards, Theon finds Drennan's body in the gatehouse, half-naked with his breeches around his feet, and cheese and wine on the table with two cups, and deduces what had happened.
