Lady Prudence Celtigar was a noblewoman from House Celtigar during the reigns of kings Maegor I[2] and Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[3] She later became the Lady of Gulltown.[4]

Appearance and Character

Lord Rogar Baratheon scornfully claimed that Prudence and her sister had "no chins, no teats, and no sense".[3]

History

Prudence was the daughter of Lord Edwell Celtigar of Claw Isle.[2] She had at least one sister, Prunella,[3] and a brother.[5]

In 47 AC, her father urged King Maegor I Targaryen to marry either Prudence or Prunella, or both if he so desired. The king did not choose Prudence or her sister, instead marrying the Black Brides, Rhaena Targaryen, Jeyne Westerling and Elinor Costayne.[2]

In 49 AC, her father made the same offer to Lord Rogar Baratheon and Queen Regent Alyssa Velaryon, that King Jaehaerys I Targaryen marry either Prudence or Prunella; Lord Baratheon rebuffed this offer.[3]

Prudence became a lady companion to Queen Alysanne Targaryen during her time on Dragonstone.[3] During King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne's second wedding, she disrobed the king during the bedding ceremony.[6]

At Maidenpool, Prudence was stabbed through the shoulder defending the queen when she was attacked by septas attending Jonquil's Pool who wished to kill the "abomination" Alysanne was carrying.[4]

In 52 AC, the betrothal of Prudence to Lord Grafton was arranged.[4]
