Roslin is small for her age and has skin pale as milk. Her pretty face has a small chin, delicate nose, and big brown eyes. Between her teeth she has a small gap. Roslin's thick chestnut hair is wavy and reaches her tiny waist. Her bosom is small but shapely.[6] Unlike most Freys, she hardly resembles a stoat.[4]
According to Lothar Frey, Roslin has a gentle nature and a talent for music.[7] Catelyn Stark worries about her small frame, and thinks the girl is shy because of the gap in her teeth.[6]
Roslin's pale blue gown has a lacy bodice.[6]

Roslin is a maiden of sixteen years.[8]
A Storm of Swords

Robb Stark had agreed to marry a daughter of Lord Walder Frey near the start of the War of the Five Kings,[9] but he instead marries Jeyne Westerling, an act which cause House Frey to angrily abandon the cause of the King in the North.[10] In order to return the Freys to the Stark and Tully alliance, Walder's son Lothar is sent to Riverrun to offer Roslin's hand to Edmure Tully, the new Lord Paramount of the Trident. Edmure would prefer to choose his own bride, but Walder only offers Roslin.[7] Edmure complains during the journey north to the Twins.[11]
Edmure thinks Roslin is sweet and pretty when she is brought forth by her brother, Ser Benfrey Frey. She cries during the introduction, which Edmure's sister, Catelyn Stark, attributes to nervousness about the wedding.[6] Catelyn worries whether Roslin would be healthy enough to bear children as people from Rosby stock are not known for their robustness, but she is reassured by Maester Brenett.[6]
During the wedding feast, Roslin and Edmure eat from a single plate, drink from a single cup, and share chaste kisses. Catelyn thinks the girl's fixed gaze is fear of of her upcoming bedding.[11] When it is time for the bedding custom, a terrified Roslin is carried from the hall by the Greatjon, with Ser Marq Piper pulling off one of her shoes.[11]
Soon after Roslin and Edmure depart for the bridal chamber, however, the Freys attack the wedding guests remaining in the hall. King Robb and Catelyn are among those slain in the Red Wedding.[11] After the unsuspecting Edmure beds Roslin, he and the other guests near him are taken prisoner.[12][13]
A Feast for Crows
At the siege of Riverrun, Ser Daven Lannister informs his cousin, Ser Jaime Lannister, that Roslin is pregnant at the Twins and that she is fond of Edmure. According to her brother, Ser Perwyn Frey, Roslin is praying for a girl; Jaime thinks if a son is born Lord Walder will then execute Edmure.[4] Genna Lannister thinks that if a girl is born, the child could one day wed Tywin Frey.[4]
In the camps outside of Riverrun, the captive Edmure tells Jaime that Roslin knew of the plans for the Red Wedding and was forced to go along despite her apprehension, thus the reason for her tears.[14] Jaime promises Edmure that if Riverrun surrenders, he and Roslin will be allowed to stay together at Casterly Rock, and their child will be raised honorably. If Riverrun refuses to yield, however, Jaime will have the child killed with a trebuchet before having the castle destroyed.[14] Edmure negotiates Riverrun's surrender and then departs with Ser Forley Prester's column for the westerlands. His uncle, Ser Brynden Tully, is able to escape the Lannisters and Freys, however.[15]
A Dance with Dragons
At Raventree Hall, Jaime mentions to Lord Tytos Blackwood that after Roslin gives birth to her baby at the Twins, she and the child will be allowed to join Edmure at Casterly Rock.[16]
