Recent Events
A Storm of Swords
Ternesio Terys meets Arya Stark at Saltpans, where the Titan's Daughter is docked. Arya asks for passage to the Night's Watch castle Eastwatch-by-the-Sea, but Ternesio refuses her, as she has little money, and the north is too dangerous. However, when Arya shows him the iron coin that was given to her by Jaqen H'ghar, and says the phrase "Valar morghulis" as Jaqen had taught her, Ternesio replies, "Valar dohaeris", and offers her a cabin.[3]
A Feast for Crows
Ternesio captains the Titan's Daughter from Saltpans to Braavos. When the ship arrives at Braavos, he tells Arya that she has no need to wait for the customs check, and that he will lower a boat for his son Yorko to row her ashore. Arya wishes she could stay aboard the ship, but she can tell by the captain's anxiousness that he wants to be rid of her. Before Arya leaves, Ternesio asks her to remember his name, and the service he did for her.[1]
Quotes
The north has nothing for us. Ice and war and pirates. We saw a dozen pirate ships making north as we rounded Crackclaw Point, and I have no wish to meet them again. From here we bend our oars for home, and I suggest you do the same.[3]
—Ternesio Terys to Arya Stark
Arya: Wait, I have something else.
Ternesio: One more silver will make no difference, child.
Arya: It's not silver. It's iron. Here.
Ternesio: This… how…?
Arya: Valar morghulis.
Ternesio: Valar dohaeris. Of course you shall have a cabin.[3]—Arya Stark and Ternesio Terys
