A Dance with Dragons
Yellow Dick is present in the great hall of the Dreadfort when Big Walder and Little Walder Frey bring Theon Greyjoy before Ramsay Bolton, Arnolf Karstark, and Hother Umber.[2] The Bastard's Boys accompany Ramsay and Theon to the siege of Moat Cailin.[3]
Yellow Dick is present at the wedding of Ramsay and "Arya Stark" (actually Jeyne Poole) at Winterfell. After the feast, Theon is brought to Ramsay's chamber by Yellow Dick and five other Bastard's Boys.[4] During a breakfast, wine snorts out Yellow Dick's nose when he hears Abel change the lyrics of "The Dornishman's Wife".[5]
While the army of Lord Roose Bolton awaits the arrival of the army of Stannis Baratheon, several men-at-arms and squires are found dead. Their deaths are thought to be accidents until Yellow Dick is found dead in the snow with his genitals cut off and shoved into his mouth, with three broken teeth. Roose orders Yellow Dick's body to be discreetely burned, and Ramsay offers a bounty of a golden dragon for his killer.[1]
Suspicion is cast on Theon at first, then knights from House Manderly. Holly and Rowan, two of the disguised spearwives who came to Winterfell with Abel to rescue Arya, deny that spearwives killed the victims, but Theon does not believe them.[1][6]
