After he is fitted with armor, [[Halder]] is sent against Sam and hurts him. Thorne, relentless, wants Halder to hit Sam further, but Jon objects. Thorne sends three boys against Jon, but [[Grenn]] and [[Pyper|Pyp]] come to Jon’s aid. Ser Alliser leaves in a fury. Sam admits he is a coward, further exemplifying [[Tyrion Lannister|Tyrion]]’s statement about men denying a hard truth. Later, Jon joins Sam at dinner and walks with him outside. Jon reveals a dream he’s been having, of returning to [[Winterfell]], but it is completely empty. And then he has to descend the stairs to the crypt, and it is then that he wakes up. Sam tells of his father, Lord [[Randyll Tarly]], who sent Sam to [[the Wall]] and disowned him as heir, passing the title to his younger son [[Dickon Tarly|Dickon]]. Synopsis
