Bernarr Brune was a member of House Brune and the squire of Lord Alyn Stokeworth at the start of the reign of King Aenys I Targaryen.[1]

History

Bernarr squired for Lord Alyn Stokeworth, who was the Hand of the King for the newly crowned King Aenys I Targaryen in 37 AC. When Lord Alyn was slain by the rebel Harren the Red, Bernarr avenged him by killing Harren. Bernarr was rewarded with a knighthood by the grateful Aenys.[1]

In 42 AC, Bernarr was present at Visenya's Hill when Maegor Targaryen was challenged by Ser Damon Morrigen, Captain General of the Warrior's Sons, to a trial of seven to settle his legitimacy to the Iron Throne. Bernarr kept quiet when Maegor called upon those who would stand beside him but was shamed into action by the volunteering of Dick Bean, a simple man-at-arms. Bernarr spoke out, offering to stand beside Maegor and noting how knights and nobles had been shamed. Bernarr's appeal succeeded and many offered their swords.[1]

During the fight, Bernarr was killed.[1]
