Ser Bryan supports Renly Baratheon at the start of the War of the Five Kings, but he goes over to Stannis Baratheon after Renly's death at Storm's End. Ser Cortnay Penrose acknowledges Bryan during the parley beneath the walls of Storm's End when Stannis demands the surrender of the castle.[1]

During the Battle of the Blackwater, Lothor Brune cuts his way through Fossoway men-at-arms to kill Bryan and Ser Edwyd Fossoway.[2]
