Prince Daeron Targaryen, known as Daeron the Daring, was the third and youngest son of King Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife, Queen Alicent Hightower. He was also younger brother to King Aegon II. He rode the dragon Tessarion.[2]

Appearance & Character

Daeron was the most popular of the three sons of King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Alicent Hightower. He was courteous and clever and was described as extremely handsome.[1]

History

Daeron was sent to serve as a cupbearer and squire at the age of twelve to Lord Ormund Hightower in Oldtown.[2][1]

Daeron saved the flanked Lord Hightower at the Battle on the Honeywine during the Dance of the Dragons. As a reward Daeron was knighted and dubbed Ser Daeron the Daring.[2]

Daeron died during the Second Battle of Tumbleton.[2] Because his death had occured during such an chaotic event, and his body had never been identified, in the years that followed, multiple people would claim to be Daeron. They were all conclusively proven to be imposters, however.[3]

Legacy

As Daeron's body was never identified, several pretenders claiming to be the Prince rose during the reign of Aegon III Targaryen. According to Yandel it is conclusively proved that these were imposters.[3]

Quotes by Daeron Targaryen

My Lord is kind to say so, but the victory belongs to Tessarion.[2]

– Responding to Lord Hightower's praises after the Battle on the Honeywine.
