Daeron Velaryon was a member of House Velaryon. He was married to Lady Hazel of House Harte. They had one child togerther, Daenaera Velaryon, who would become the queen of King Aegon III Targaryen,[1] and the mother of his five children.[2]
History
The succession of the baseborn Alyn of Hull as Lord of the Tides, was not uncontested. Several Velaryon cousins of Alyn of Hull, amongst them the sons of Ser Vaemond, Daemion and Daeron, took their own claim to the council in King’s Landing. When the Hand and the regents ruled against them, they wisely chose to accept the decision and be reconciled with Lord Alyn, who rewarded them with lands on Driftmark on the condition that they contribute ships to his fleet.[3]
They did after all recall a time, during the reign of King Viserys I, that their father, a nephew of Lord Corlys, had put himself forward as the true heir to Driftmark, on the grounds that Lord Corlys' chosen successor, his grandson Lucerys, was a bastard. As this 'bastard' was a grandchild of the King, this little rebellion cost Ser Vaemond his head.[3]
Daeron died fighting for his cousin, Lord Alyn Velaryon, with whom he had been reconciled, in the Stepstones, when his ship True Heart went down.[1][3]
