The Crownlands and the location of Duskendale

Duskendale is a large town in the Crownlands. It is built around its harbor. The town has cobbled streets. It is the seat of House Rykker. North of the town lie chalk cliffs and the road runs beside the shore between the sea and low limestone hills. Fishing villages dot the road for miles. South of the town is a rocky headland which shielded the harbor from big storms coming out of the narrow sea.[1]

The castle that overlooks the port is known as the Dun Fort. It is the stronghold of House Rykker.[2]

History

During the Defiance of Duskendale, King Aerys II was held captive within Duskendale by House Darklyn. After Ser Barristan Selmy managed to rescue to the King, House Darklyn was destroyed and Duskendale and its lands and incomes were give to House Rykker.[3]

There was a tourney in Duskendale around 294 AL. Ser Balman Byrch supposedly rode well in the tourney.[4]
