Lady Falena Stokeworth was a noblewoman of House Stokeworth during the reign of King Aegon III Targaryen.[1]

Appearance and Character

In her youth, Falena Stokeworth was described as pretty and lively.[3]

History

Early life

During the Dance of the Dragons, after defecting to Aegon II Targaryen, Rhaenyra Targaryen executed Lord Stokeworth after she took King's Landing. Lord Stokeworth left behind six-year-old Falena and a younger son. Prince Daemon Targaryen proposed wedding Falena to Ulf White and giving them control of Castle Stokeworth. However, Lord Corlys Velaryon argued against this, as Lord Stokeworth had named his son as heir and disinheriting the son would overturn centuries of precedent. Rhaenyra decided in favor of Corlys and Falena's brother became Lord of Stokeworth.[4]

Lady Falena came to court as a child, and was a companion of Queen Jaehaera in the regency of the boy king Aegon III Targaryen, who sometimes played at dolls with the queen. In 133 AC, she was one of the many maidens harmed or scandalized leading up to the ball known as the Maiden's Day Cattle Show when she took a tumble down the serpentine steps of the Red Keep and broke a leg. Lord Unwin Peake, the Hand of the King, may have engineered the fall to promote his own daughter as the king's second wife.[3]

Aegon the Unworthy

Falena became the first mistress of Prince Aegon. She "made him a man" in 149 AC when he was fourteen, she being ten years his elder. When a knight of the Kingsguard found them abed together in 151 AC, his father, Prince Viserys, wed Falena to the master-at-arms at the Red Keep, Ser Lucas Lothston, and persuaded Aegon III Targaryen to name Lucas Lord of Harrenhal in order to remove Falena from court. However, over the next two years, Aegon paid frequent visits to Harrenhal.[1]

Falena returned to court at King's Landing when King Aegon IV named her husband his Hand, bringing her daughter Lady Jeyne Lothston with her. It was rumored the king enjoyed both mother and daughter together in the same bed.[1]
