The Fighting at Bitterbridge is an engagement during the War of the Five Kings in aftermath of the death of King Renly Baratheon and the fall of Storm's End to King Stannis Baratheon.

Prelude

After the death of Renly, Loras Tyrell murders Robar Royce and Emmon Cuy in his rage,[1] and returns to Bitterbridge with a fifth of Renly's knights.[1]

Fighting

After the news of Renly's death reach his camp, were sixty thousand men are encamped, a fight breaks out between those who wish to declare for Stannis and those who follow House Tyrell's decision not to.[2] Ser Parmen Crane and Ser Erren Florent, two knights sent by Stannis to retrieve the army are taken prisoner.[2]

Lord Randyll Tarly seizes the stores and puts many men - mainly Florents - to the death. Lord Lorent Caswell locks himself inside his castle to avoid the hostilities.[3]

Aftermath

Ser Parmen and Ser Erren are taken to Highgarden as hostages.[4]
