Season 8 of Game of Thrones is the eighth and final[1] season of the series. Season eight was officially announced during the Television Critics Association tour in 2016.[2]

Production

In March 2017, Season 8 was reported to contain only six episodes, making it the shortest season of the series. The episodes will be written by four writers: Dave Hill (episode 1), Bryan Cogman (episode 2), and Benioff & Weiss (episodes 3 through 6).[3]

Filming of the final six episodes began on October 23, 2017[4] and ended on July 6, 2018.

The runtimes for each episode are as following: 54 minutes, 58 minutes, 82 minutes, 78 minutes, 80 minutes, and 80 minutes.[5]
