The High Septon was High Septon of the Faith of the Seven during the regency and reign of King Aegon III Targaryen.[2]

History

In 131 AC, the High Septon travelled to King's Landing to pronounce the marriage vows at the wedding of Prince Aegon and Princess Jaehaera Targaryen on the seventh day of the seventh moon. He refused to make the voyage with Lyonel Hightower, the new Lord of Oldtown, as he considered his relationship with Lady Samantha Tarly, his father's widow, to be a form of incest and forbade them to marry. Instead, the High Septon travelled to the capital accompagnied by Lords Redwyne, Costayne, and Beesbury. Lords Rowan and Tarly joined them for the return journey to the Reach.[2]

In 136 AC, the High Septon wrote a letter to Lord Torrhen Manderly asking clemency for Septon Bernard when he was put on trial for his involvement during the Lysene Spring.[3]

After his passing in 143 AC, his successor allowed the marriage of Lord Lyonel and Lady Samantha and their six children were legitimized.[1][4]
