House Hogg of Sow's Horn
Seat Sow's Horn
Head Ser Roger Hogg
Region Crownlands
Title Knight of Sow's Horn[1]
Overlord House Hayford

House Hogg of Sow's Horn is a house of landed knights sworn to House Hayford. Sow's Horn is located in the crownlands near the border with the riverlands; the lands of House Wode are nearby.[2]

Their arms displays a brindled boar.[2]

History

Jon Hogg fought in the battle at the Great Fork for King Maegor I Targaryen. He was later killed by members of the Warrior's Sons.[3][4]

Ser Harys Hogg was a favourite of the smallfolk at tourneys during the early reign of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.[5]

Priscella Hogg was a companion to Queen Daenaera Velaryon who was accused of a poisoning attempt against members of the royal household. Priscella was deemed to have only played a minor role in the plot, and on account of her sex, Lord Torrhen Manderly gave her a minor punishment. She was condemned to have her nose cut off, with the understanding that the punishment would be stayed should she give herself to the Faith, so long as she remained true to her vows.[6]

Recent Events

A Feast for Crows

Ser Jaime Lannister leads his force past Sow's Horn. He meets with Ser Roger Hogg, the head of the household, who tells him that during the War of the Five Kings he was attacked by white star wolves (members of House Karstark) and lions (Lannister men) under the command of Ser Amory Lorch. Amory failed in his attempt to burn down Sow's Horn.[2]

Behind the Scenes

House Hogg may be a reference by George R. R. Martin to the story Three Little Pigs. The earth and timber halls of the brothers Wode are burned down by raiders, but the stout stone of Sow's Horn resists Amory Lorch.
