According to semi-canon sources they blazon their arms with five silver arrows, fanned, on brown.[1] Their motto does not appear in the books.

The known Hunters during the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Lord {Eon Hunter}, Lord of Longbow Hall. An old man with gouty legs, who has been ruling his house for sixty years, known as Old Lord Hunter.
- Lord Gilwood Hunter, his son and new Lord of Longbow Hall, known as the "Young Lord Hunter".
- Ser Eustace Hunter, his second son. Lord Gilwood's heir.
- Ser Harlan Hunter, his third son.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch of the house there is also:
- Janyce Hunter, married to Edwyn Frey, the first son (Ryman) of the first son (Stevron) of Lord Walder Frey. Mother to Walda Frey.

- Willamen Frey is counted as one of the four sons of Bethany Rosby with Lord Walder Frey. He is mentioned to have taken vows as a maester and is serving at Longbow Hall.
- Old Lord Hunter dies suddenly, and his two younger sons accuse the elder brother and new Lord Hunter of having murdered him. Petyr Baelish states afterwards that the real murderer had been the youngest son Harlan.
- Eon Hunter reigned for nearly sixty years before his abrupt death.
- Janyce Hunter was rumored to have slept with the brother of her husband, Black Walder Frey.
- Lord Gilwood Hunter was one of the six Lords Declarant; the last who arrived at the Gates of the Moon to block the food supplies.
- Sansa Stark sees Young Lord Hunter when he ascends to the Eyrie negotiate with Petyr Baelish, dressed with an ermine cloak pinned with a brooch with his house arms. He has red nose and cheeks, and is a heavy drinker.
- Petyr Baelish considers that Gilwood Hunter is not a threat to him in the long term, since he predicts he'll be soon murdered by one of his young brothers. According to him, the youngest is already responsible for their father's death.
