History

Ser Harrold Langward served in the Kingsguard during King Maegor the Cruel's reign. After Maegor's mysterious death upon the Iron Throne, the new young king Jaehaerys I Targaryen offered Maegor's surviving white cloaks a choice between execution or taking the black. Ser Harrold asked for trial by combat. Ser Harrold fought and was subsequently slain by Ser Gyles Morrigen in 48 AC.[2]
