House Vance of Atranta is one of the two great branches of House Vance in the Riverlands, the other being House Vance from Wayfarer's Rest.
Neither their arms or their motto appear on the books. According to semi-canon sources they blazon their arms as quartered, a green dragon on white and a white tower on black.[1]

The House Vance of Atranta at the end of the third century
The known Vances of Atranta during the timespan of the events described on A Song of Ice and Fire are:
- Lord Norbert Vance, Lord of Atranta. A blind old man.
- Ser Ronald Vance, his eldest son and heir. Called "the Bad".
- Ser Hugo Vance, his second son.
- Ser Ellery Vance, his third son.
- Ser Kirth Vance, his fourth son.
- Maester Jon, his fifth son. A maester of the Citadel.
With unspecified familiar relationship to the main branch there are also:
- Ser Dafyn Vance. He married Maegelle Frey, daughter of Stevron Frey, and is father to three children.

A Song of Ice and Fire
- As the other riverlords, Lord Norbert declares for Robb Stark during the War of the Five Kings. His sons join his army in the war.
- After Catelyn Tully scolded her brother for complaining about Roslin Frey expected lack of beauty, she sees how Edmure Tully avoids her, preferring the company of, among others, the young Vances
- An unknown Vance is seen being hamstrung by Black Walder during the Red Wedding. It is unknown who he was, but apparently all of Norbert's sons survived the war.
- Tommen I signs the pardon of Lord Vance after the war. It is unknown if the reference is for the Lord of Atranta or for the Lord of Wayfarer's Rest, but afterwards we see that both of them have been welcomed to the King's peace.
- Ser Ronald, Ser Ellery, Ser Hugo and Kirth Vance are all companions of Edmure Tully.
- Although with all probability he was at the Twins during the Red Wedding, for some reason Ser Hugo Vance is at King's Landing at the beginning of AFFC, and joins Ser Jaime Lannister in his expedition to besiege Riverrun.
- Ser Jaime Lannister spotted the banner of House Vance among those of the Riverlords who had bent the knee and now aided House Lannister in the siege of Riverrun.
- Both branches of House Vance are present at the siege of Riverrun, and their Lords take part on the war councils.
- Lord Norbert squired for Lord Darry with Brynden Tully.
