House Wynch of Iron Holt is a noble house from the island of Pyke in the Iron Islands. They are among the Greyjoys' principal bannermen.[1] Their seat is the town[2] of Iron Holt is on the other side of the island from the castle of Pyke, the seat of House Greyjoy.[3]
Their blazon is a bloody moon on purple.[4][5] Their motto does not appear in the books.

Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
When Theon Greyjoy arrives at Pyke he sees a great number of longships, including the blood moon of the Wynches.[4] When entering the great hall of Pyke with his father Balon Greyjoy's captains, Theon sees some Wynches among them.[3]
A Storm of Swords
Ser Aladale Wynch is slain by wildlings at the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.
A Feast for Crows
Tristifer Botley explains to Asha Greyjoy that Lord Waldon Wynch was the first man to recognize Euron Greyjoy as King of the Iron Islands. House Wynch were given half the lands of House Botley for supporting Euron.
Some Wynches gather around Victarion Greyjoy before the kingsmoot and give him support. Aeron Greyjoy spots the banner of House Wynch among those gathered at the kingsmoot.

The known Wynches during the timespan of the events described in A Song of Ice and Fire are:

With unspecified familiar relationship to him there are also:
- Ser {Aladale Wynch}, a ranger of the Night's Watch. Slain at the Battle of the Bridge of Skulls.
