The Isle of Toads is one of the Basilisk Isles, located in the bay off the northwestern coast of Sothoryos, north east of the Isle of Tears. It is home to an forty feet high ancient idol of greasy black stone, crudely carved into the semblance of a gigantic toad of malignant aspect, known as the Toad Stone.[1]

People

The inhabitants of the Isle of Toads are believed to descend from those who carved the Toad Stone. They are described as having and unpleasant, fishlike aspect to their faces, and many have webbed hands and feet. Yandel considers that if such is the case, they are the sole surviving remnant of this forgotten race. He also considers there might be a connection of these peoples to the settlers of the Basilisk Islands that left behind many ruins upon them[1]
