Jon Piper was the Lord of Pinkmaiden and the head of House Piper during the reign of King Maegor I Targaryen. He fought for Prince Aegon Targaryen during the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye.[2] He had two younger brothers and a sister, Melony.[1]

History

After declaring his uncle Maegor I Targaryen a usurper and a tyrant, Prince Aegon the Uncrowned and Princess Rhaena lost many of their supporters while they remained at Casterly Rock, as they left to bend the knee to Maegor at King's Landing. However, Lord Jon Piper, his brothers, and his sister Melony, a friend and former favorite to Rhaena, arrived at Lannisport to swear the loyalty of House Piper.[1]

After claiming their dragons, Aegon and Rhaena gathered their supporters at Pinkmaiden Castle. Lord Jon had pledged his sword to Aegon's cause, though many believed it was Melony that convinced her brother to rally under the prince. When Aegon's gathered host began marching on King's Landing, the Piper levies were not led by Lord Jon or his brothers, but by Melony, who died with the prince and many of the rebels at the Battle Beneath the Gods Eye in 43 AC, alongside three of her brothers.[1] Since Jon is explicitly mentioned among the fallen ones in an earlier version of the chapter,[2] he likely died in the battle.

When King Jaehaerys I Targaryen reclaimed the throne from his uncle Maegor, Dowager Queen Alyssa Velaryon argued for wedding the young king to a Piper, posthumously rewarding Jon and House Piper's loyalty to her late son Aegon.[3]
