Jonquil is a legendary character from the Age of Heroes.[1] Associated with Jonquil's Pool at Maidenpool in the riverlands,[2] she is known known for falling in love with a knight named Florian the Fool.[3]

Legend

According to legend, Florian first spied the fair[4] Jonquil bathing with her sisters in a sweetwater pool.[2] Jonquil fell in love with Florian. Jonquil's Pool is now a bathhouse said to have healing properties in the town of Maidenpool,[1][5] and the town's castle contains Jonquil's Tower.[6]

There are songs about Florian and Jonquil; "Six Maids in a Pool" may be one of them.[2]

History
