Lord Karyl Vance of Wayfarer's Rest is a member of House Vance from Wayfarer's Rest. He became the head of the house after the death of his father during the Battle of the Golden Tooth during the War of the Five Kings.

Recent Events
A Game of Thrones
Ser Karyl was sent to King's Landing with Ser Marq Piper and Ser Raymun Darry to receive the king's permission to hunt down the Lannister men who had been raiding the Riverlands. Lord Eddard Stark, Hand of the King, agreed and sent a party to arrest Ser Gregor Clegane.[1] After the Battle of the Golden Tooth, Ser Karyl raids across the Red Fork of the Trident.[2] He was named Lord after the death of his father at the Battle of the Golden Tooth.[3]
A Clash of Kings
Lord Karyl departs Riverrun to defend his lands with permission from his liege lord, Ser Edmure Tully.[4] Lord Karyl commanded the defense of fords upstream from Riverrun in the Battle of the Fords.[5]
A Storm of Swords
Lord Karyl was among the seven nobles who launched the funeral boat of Lord Hoster Tully.[6]
A Feast for Crows
Lord Karyl bent the knee after the Red Wedding. He was one of the reluctant Riverlords who joined with House Lannister in besieging Riverrun. He was one of the lords who represented the Riverlords on the war council.[7]
Appearance
Ser Karyl would be handsome except for his winestain birthmark which discolors one side of his face and half his neck.[8] He has sad eyes.[9]
