The Kingspyre Tower is the largest and tallest of the towers of Harrenhal. The original name for the tower was lost when Harren the Black and his sons died during the War of Conquest. It received its new name when Aegon I had his dragon, Balerion, burn Harren and his sons alive in the tower. It is lopsided beneath the weight of slagged stone, the result of Balerion's dragonbreath.[1] There is an arching stone bridge that connects it to the Widow's Tower.[2] The castellan's chambers are within this tower, and are as spacious as any lords.[3]

The solar is one flight below the lord's bedchamber. It is a spare, drafty room that is as large as a hall in a smaller castle.[4]
