A Feast for Crows

According to Qyburn, Septon Luceon hosted a supper for thirty of the Most Devout in an effort to buy their votes in the election of a new High Septon.[3] He becomes the leading candidate after the sparrows follow Septon Ollidor to a brothel and drag him out into the street naked.[4]

Qyburn's whisperers later report that Luceon was nine votes short of being chosen High Septon when the sparrows overran the Great Sept of Baelor with axes in hand and their leader on their shoulders. They forced the Most Devout to elect the sparrows' leader, an as yet unnamed individual who became the new High Septon, mockingly called the High Sparrow by the higher echelons of society in King's Landing.[5]
