Lucerys Velaryon was the Lord of the Tides and head of House Velaryon during the reign of King Aerys II Targaryen, serving on the small council as the king's master of ships.[1]
History
Serving on the small council as the master of ships, Lucerys was a strong supporter of King Aerys II Targaryen during the Year of the False Spring. Called "lickspittle lords" by Maester Yandel, Lucerys and the lords of the small council gained much from the king's madness, eagerly seizing opportunities to speak ill of Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and inflaming the king's suspicion against his son. In return for Lucerys's support, King Aerys II showered him and his other supporters with honors, offices, and lands.[1]
The fate of Lucerys during Robert's Rebellion is as yet unknown, although the royal fleet of House Targaryen, anchored at Dragonstone, was destroyed by a great storm when Princess Daenerys Targaryen was born.[2]
Family
His relation to the current Velaryons is unknown. He may be the father of Lord Monford Velaryon and his bastard half-brother, Aurane Waters.
