History

The Mad Huntsman lived in Stoney Sept when it was attacked by the Lannisters. The attackers raped his wife and sister, torched his crops, killed his sheep and slew six of his dogs. The dog carcasses were thrown into his well.[2]

Recent Events

A Storm of Swords

The Mad Huntsman becomes a leader of Stoney Sept after the death of Ser Wilbert at the hands of the Lannisters. A member of the brotherhood without banners,[3] he somewhat alleviates the famine around Stoney Sept by bringing in a flock of sheep.

He puts northern prisoners he captured to waste away in crow cages.[2]

After word spreads that Jaime Lannister has escaped Riverrun, the Mad Huntsman sets out to track him.[2] He catches Sandor Clegane, but the brotherhood claim him before the Mad Huntsman can put him in the crow cages. After a tense confrontation, the Mad Huntsman agrees to take Sandor before the Lightning Lord. Sandor is brought before Beric Dondarrion, where he defeats the Lightning Lord in a trial by battle. However, Sandor's gold is confiscated and the Mad Huntsman is sent to buy grain south of the Mander with the gold, accompanied by Greenbeard.[4]
