Maiden's Day is a holy day in the calendar of the Faith of the Seven. On that day maidens of noble houses are required to go to the sept to light tall white candles at the Maiden's feet and hang parchment garlands about her neck. Mothers, whores and widows are barred from the sept along with men. Those maidens who enter the sept sing songs of innocence.[1]

Maiden's Day falls at some point in the first five months of the calendar year in Westeros.[N 1]

Notes

  1. Maiden's Day is described to have occurred after the Butcher's Ball (The Princess and the Queen), a battle known to occur in 130 AC (The World of Ice & Fire, The Targaryen Kings: Aegon II). Prince Daemon Targaryen died months later, on the twenty-second day of the fifth moon of 130 AC. Hence, Maiden's day falls somewhere within the first five months of the year.
