The miller's sons are two boys from Acorn Water near Winterfell in the North.
Recent Events
A Clash of Kings
After Ser Rodrik Cassel captures "Reek", his party stops at the mill for a while before continuing to Winterfell. The miller's wife sold them hay for their horses.[1]
When Theon Greyjoy captures Winterfell, Bran and Rickon hide in the crypts.[2] To hide the truth of their escape, Theon goes to Acorn Water mill and kills the miller's two young children. Gelmarr cuts their mother down with one blow of his axe, while she begs Theon for mercy. The dead children are skinned by Reek and Theon proclaims them to be Bran and Rickon.[3]
A Dance with Dragons
Theon Greyjoy thinks of the ghosts of Winterfell, the old ghosts from the crypts and the younger ones that he had made himself, including the miller's wife from Acorn Water and her two young sons.[4]
Theon argues with Rowan that he is no kinslayer. He thinks to himself that the two children he killed were just some miller's sons, and that he had known the miller's wife for years.[5]
