The Poor Fellows are an order of soldiers sworn to the Faith of the Seven. They are part of the Faith Militant which are known as the Swords and Stars. They only answer and obey the High Septon of the seven and him alone as they believe the High Septon speaks for the Seven on the earth. Unlike the Warrior Son's anyone can join the poor fellows regardless of birth, sex or station. Despite not being as trained, disciplined and well armed as the Warriors Son's the Poor fellows are the bulk of the Faiths personal army and are much more numerous, they are made up by faithful and fanatical alike. Acting as a militant counterpart to begging brothers, Poor Fellows wander the realm and escort pilgrims between septs. They are lightly-armed footmen, who carry whatever weapons they can make or find, often axes or cudgels, and wear star badges, red on white, some even scourge or brand the seven pointed star in there flesh. They are the "stars" of the Sword and Stars, often a single Warriors Son would be appointed to command of a group of them by the High Septon.

The order has not existed in the realm since Jaehaerys I, however after War of the Five Kings in 300 AL the ruling King Tommen Baratheon under the edict of his mother and Regent Cersei Lannister overturned the law forbidding Holy men from being armed and the order was reborn.

The bulk of the current poor fellows is made up of Sparrows and they obey the new High Septon known by many as the High Sparrow.
