Lord Selwyn Tarth, also known as the Evenstar, is the Lord of Evenfall Hall and head of House Tarth. He has one daughter, Brienne of Tarth. He is a good man.[2] He is fifty-four years old.[3]

He is remembered by Brienne as having a new woman every year. He kept a singer every year of Brienne's childhood, allowing her to memorize all the songs.[4]

When Davos Seaworth was sent to ask after the allegiance of the Stormlords, Lord Selwyn would only agree to a midnight meeting in a grove with Davos, where the Evenstar informed him of his refusal to join Stannis Baratheon.[5]

Upon learning that Brienne had been captured by Lord Roose Bolton and the Brave Companions, who had sent a raven demanding a ransom, Lord Selwyn sent a return raven offering three hundred dragons for Brienne's safe return. Vargo Hoat rejected the offer, believing Lord Selwyn was trying to cheat him by withholding sapphires.[6]
