This DYK is just factually incorrect on many levels. "Cersei" and "Circe" are absolutely not pronounced the same way, even if you try to use the "pronunciations are up to the reader" argument, in which case this DYK still falls flat because it's stating an absolute on the pronunciation. "Circe" is pronounced with hard C's; "Kírke." Potsk (talk) 04:13, 10 November 2022 (UTC)

Circe is pronounced [kirke] in Ancient Greek, but that's not the traditional English pronunciation. For what it's worth, both Wikipedia and Wiktionary indicate the English pronunciation as [sersi]. Meanwhile, our own pronunciation guide lists [sersi] as a valid pronunciation for Cersei. Abjiklam (talk) 08:38, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
I've never heard Circe pronounced that way, but fair enough. I guess it is valid then. But it still doesn't feel right that it's stating "Cersei is pronounced this way," when GRRM has stated multiple times that there is no correct way to pronounce any names in his books. [sersi] is just one of many possible interpretations, one which GRRM doesn't even use (he pronounces it "sir-say"). Potsk (talk) 09:01, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
