Conception and development
The adaptation of the Dunk and Egg stories, helmed by Steve Conrad, was first reported on 30 November 2021.[1] On 9 March 2022, George R. R. Martin confirmed these rumors and revealed that the first season would be an adaptation of the first novella, The Hedge Knight. He further explained that the series would not be called Dunk & Egg, as it could be mistaken for a sitcom by viewers unfamiliar with the stories. Instead, the most likely title is either A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms or The Hedge Knight.[2][3]
