The Tourney for King Joffrey's 13th Name Day was held in King's Landing to celebrate the 13th name day of the new king, Joffrey I. Due to war that was afflicting the Seven Kingdoms at the time, the tourney drew no great champions, with Sandor Clegane calling them "gnats" and refusing to participate. It ended shortly after it began, upon the arrival of Tyrion Lannister.[1]

The Joust

Ser Dontos had been too drunk and embarrassed the King. Joffrey meant to kill him, but Sansa Stark pleaded for his life and it was spared. The tourney ended shortly thereafter, upon the arrival of Tyrion Lannister.[2]
