Tyrek Lannister is a member of House Lannister. He is the son of Ser Tygett Lannister and Lady Darlessa Marbrand.[5]

Appearance

Tyrek is said to be around Sansa Stark's age. He is handsome, with long golden curls.[6]

Recent Events

A Game of Thrones

Tyrek is a squire for King Robert I Baratheon alongside Lancel Lannister, his cousin.[6]

A Clash of Kings

Tyrek is married to Lady Ermesande Hayford, the ruling Lady of House Hayford, so that House Lannister can claim her lands.[7][1] Because Ermesande is still a baby, the other squires call Tyrek "Wet Nurse".[1][8]

With people who fled the fighting in the riverlands flooding into King's Landing and with provisions for commoners getting shorter, unrest is growing in the city. One minor uproar is created at the gate of the Red Keep when news about preparations for Tyrek's upcoming wedding feast gets out. It is quelled by a party led by King Joffrey I Baratheon.[9] After Tyrek marries Ermesande, he wears a bridegroom mantle of miniver and velvet.[1]

Once the rival kings Stannis and Renly Baratheon cut off King's Landing from supplies, suffering among the population gets worse. Driven by hunger, a mob attacks a royal party that had gone to the harbor to bid safe journey to Princess Myrcella Baratheon as she departed for Dorne. In the riot, a number of men are killed. Tyrek goes missing and is presumed dead.[8]

A Storm of Swords

Although Tyrion Lannister and his father, Lord Tywin, try to find Tyrek or his body, no trace of the boy can be found. Ser Addam Marbrand, the new commander of the gold cloaks, has no luck either.[10]

A Feast for Crows

Ser Jaime Lannister suspects that Lord Varys may have had a hand in Tyrek's disappearance, reasoning that Tyrek, as the late King Robert's squire, would have knowledge about the king, including the circumstances surrounding his death. Furthermore, Varys did not go to the docks with the rest of the court on the day Myrcella was sent to Dorne, suggesting Varys might have instigated the riot and had agents snatch Tyrek during the confusion.[4]
