Wat the Hewer was a leader of the Poor Fellows during the Faith Militant uprising. He fought with an axe[1]
Appearance
He was described as him as a "giant", on account of his large size and prowess.[1]
History
Wat the Hewer led the Poor Fellows out of the Reach on a march towards King's Landing. During the battle at Stonebridge. He managed to kill a dozen knights, including Lord Meadows, the commander of King Maegor's army, but was taken alive himself and delivered to King's Landing in chains.
Wat was delivered to Maegor, bound but still defiant. Maegor proceeded to cut off all of Wat's limbs with his own axe - but then commanded his maesters to keep him alive, "so he might attend my wedding" to Tyanna of the Tower - yet another polygamous marriage and affront to the Faith. The maesters did manage to keep him alive, and true to his word, Maegor had the limbless and formerly-giant Wat taken to the burned out ruin of the Sept of Remembrance to witness his wedding to Tyanna. What happened to Wat after that isn't mentioned.[1]
